Hints, Tips & Tricks

Boost your experience with simple strategies that make the Labs easier to use — and more effective over time.

Create a Routine

Same time most days works best. Consistency turns “trying” into automatic skill — even 10 minutes is enough.

Start With What Pulls Them In

Let your child choose the first tool. When they feel ownership, resistance drops and momentum starts faster.

Celebrate Small Wins

Every “I started” is a win. Confidence grows from evidence — not lectures.

Minimise Distractions

Quiet space, fewer interruptions. The calmer the environment, the quicker the tool works.

Mix Calm + Focus

If a child can’t start, it’s often because their nervous system is loud. Calm first, then Focus works wonders.

Talk About What Changed

Ask: “What felt easier after the tool?” That reflection locks the skill in and makes it repeatable.

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to common questions about getting started, outcomes, and what to do if something feels hard.

Start simple. Create your account, log in, then choose either Calm Lab or Focus Lab. Pick one tool and do it once. The goal is not perfection — it’s building the habit of using tools when life gets wobbly.
Focus Lab helps children start tasks, stay on track, and follow through. Calm Lab helps them regulate big feelings and recover faster after frustration. Together, they build “reset + restart” skills.
Most families do 10–15 minutes. Short, consistent sessions beat occasional long ones. The skill is the repeat — not the length.
Totally normal. If it’s hard, do one small part and stop. If it’s easy, aim for “clean and steady” — not speed. If you want, message us and we’ll point you to the best next tool.
Yes. It works on laptop, tablet, and mobile. For longer tools, a bigger screen feels easier — but mobile is supported.
Progress is tracked through repeat use and visible “wins” (like starting faster, calmer recovery, fewer standoffs). Your Dashboard shows streaks and check-ins when logged in.
Use Calm Lab first. Frustration isn’t “bad behaviour” — it’s overload. A quick reset makes your child reachable again, then Focus tools work better.
Designed mainly for ages 9–12. Strong readers slightly younger can use it with guidance. Older children can still benefit from the structure.
No. Use what helps today. The best tool is the one your child will actually use in the moment.
Keep it light: set a routine, reduce distractions, and praise effort. Let the tool do the “structure” so you don’t become the manager.
